Summers in the semi-arid Oliver are long and hot while winters are short and generally mild. Precipitation averages just 319mm annually.
Due to the four distinct seasons in the Okanagan, Oliver supports a range of activities throughout the year. In the summer the climate provides beautiful weather for swimming in Tuc-el-Nuit Lake, hiking and biking on many of the nearby trails, tastings and classes at local wineries, and golfing. Local events, that can be accessed here, pull tourists from all across Canada and the United States.
During the fall and winter, indoor activities at the Community Center thrive. Baldy Mountain Resort is also located just 35km from Downtown Oliver and is open for snowboarding, skiing, and snowshoeing.
